Layoff Insurance does not cover individuals for loss of employment under the following circumstances:
- Voluntarily leaving their job
- Resigning from their job
- Retiring from their job
- Being fired due to misconduct
- The end of a contract job
- The end of seasonal employment
- A reduction in hours worked but not a complete loss of income
- Individuals aware of upcoming termination before enrolling for Quil benefits
- Self-employed individuals
- Loss of employment before a specified period
Additionally, benefits will not be paid if the loss of employment occurs during the first 90 days of Quil membership, before the Quil membership started, before the person has worked a minimum of 90 days and 30 hours per week, or if the loss of employment is due to disability from accident, sickness, disease, pregnancy, or childbirth.
